Biography:

Jewel Staite was born on June 2, 1982 in White Rock, BC, Canada. She studied at the Vancouver Film School and worked at the Vancouver Youth Theatre as well.

Her motion picture debut was as Samantha in Gold Diggers: The Secret of Bear Mountain while her television debut was in The Odyssey. From 2002 to 2003, she played the role of Kaylee Frye in Firefly.

She reprised her role as Kaylee Frye in the subsequent film Serenity. She then continued to make more substantial roles in a series of shows including Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show, Da Vinci’s Inquest, and Stargate Atlantis.
