Hollywood actress Joanna Going started her acting career in the mid-1980s. She made her debut as a recurring character in the television series Search for Tomorrow. Her first starring role was in the soap opera Another World. In the 1990s, she starred as Victoria Winters / Josette du Pres in the show Dark Shadows. She next starred in the TV series Going to Extremes.
During this period, she had roles in the films Wyatt Earp (debut), How to Make an American Quilt, Nixon, and Inventing the Abbotts. In the 2000s, she starred in the film Runaway Jury as well as in a couple of TV movies. In the 2010s, she played First Lady Tricia Walker in House of Cards. She also became known for her role as Christina Kulina in Kingdom.
The 54-year-old actress stays in shape by sticking to a healthy lifestyle. This means she usually eats nutritious and whole foods to keep both her body and mind healthy. In an interview, she talked about how she practices beauty inside and out. She explained: “I’m not an extremist about food, but I try to eat healthy, avoid processed food. I enjoy a sort of modified paleo diet; that is, I generally avoid grains and beans, especially when I’m working, as they tend to make my stomach bloat, but I will definitely enjoy a good pizza, or a pasta or great bread once in a while.”
She went on to say: “That’s where the ‘everything in moderation’ comes in. If I’m going to cheat, I want it to be worth it. Lots of leafy greens—I’m one of those kale people, and I love all kinds of meat and seafood. I grew up in a seaport town, so a raw bar is my idea of food heaven. And cheese—life without cheese would be sad.”
