Joanna Newsom is an American multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter. She has also ventured into acting. She started her musical career in 2002, releasing two EPs. In 2004, she released her debut album The Milk-Eyed, which received critical success. Her second studio album, Ys, garnered her wider recognition and charted on the Billboard 200. She has released subsequent albums in the 2010s – Have One on Me (2010) and Divers (2015). She also started appearing on TV and film, first appearing in an episode of Portlandia. In 2014, she made her cinematic debut as Sortilège in Paul Thomas Anderson’s film Inherent Vice. She also appeared in the 2016 mockumentary comedy film Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.
