Biography:

Joel Kinnaman was born on 25 November 1979 in Stockholm, Sweden to a Swedish mother and an American father. In 1990, he made his debut as a child actor in the Swedish soap opera Storstad. He only returned to acting in the 2000s. During this time, he appeared in several Swedish movies. He became known for his role as Sverker Karlsson in Arn – The Knight Templar and Arn – The Kingdom at Road’s End.

In the 2010s, he ventured to Hollywood with role in the Russian-American film The Darkest Hour. He also appeared in the Swedish-American movie The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. He went on to appear in the Hollywood films Safe House and Lola Versus. From 2011 to 2014, he starred as Stephen Holder on the American series The Killing. As of 2016, he stars as Governor Will Conway on the Netflix series House of Cards.
