Biography:
Joey Batey was born on 1 January 1989 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. From a young age, he aspired to become a performer because of his musical inclination. In his later life, he attended University of Cambridge’s Robinson College.
There, he created and performed sketch shows. In 2013, he made his debut on television with the TV movie Murder on the Home Front. That very same year, he played the part of Edward of Lancaster in the miniseries, The White Queen, as well as appeared in 2 episodes of Whitechapel.
In 2014, Batey had his first movie role as an extra in The Riot Club. He later made notable guest appearances in numerous shows, which include Mount Pleasant, In the Dark, and Strike. From 2017 to 2018, he starred as Pierre in the historical drama series Knightfall. Around this period, the actor had signed on to appear in the film Bloody Cakes, however, it was never released.
He next appeared as an extra in the movie Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool. More guest roles came along in the next few years until, finally, he landed the role of Jaskier in the Netflix series, The Witcher. The series became one of Netflix’s most popular shows when it premiered, making it Batey’s most successful work so far.
