John Bell is a Scottish actor whose career started in the late 2000s. He debuted in an episode of Doctor Who. He next starred as Anthony Weaver in the British comedy series Life of Riley. In 2009, he made his cinematic debut in the film A Shine of Rainbows. His next role was as Toby Coleman in the show Tracy Beaker Returns. He later became known for his performances on the big screen — as Helius in Wrath of the Titans, Angus in Battleship, and Bain in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. He reprised his role as Bain in the sequel The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. He played the Young Spud in the 2017 film T2 Trainspotting. As of 2017, he also plays Ian Murray in the Starz series Outlander.
