John Carroll Lynch is an American character actor. He is also a director. He debuted with a small role in the 1993 film Grumpy Old Men. His first notable role was as Norm Gunderson in the 1996 movie Fargo. He went on to gain wider recognition for his role as Steve Carey in The Drew Carey Show, which he starred in from 1997 to 2004. He simultaneously appeared in the films Volcano, Mercury Rising, Bubble Boy, The Good Girl, and Gothika. He next portrayed Arthur Leigh Allen in David Fincher’s 2007 film Zodiac. In the 2010s, he had roles in Shutter Island, Crazy, Stupid, Love., Ted 2, and portrayed Lyndon B. Johnson in Jackie. He recently starred as Lee Simmons in the crime film The Highwaymen.
