Josephine Langford was born on 18 August 1997 in Perth, Western Australia, Australia. In her early teens, she started taking acting classes. She later attended Perth Film School. In 2013, she made her acting debut in a short film. Later in 2017, she made her feature film debut in the independent movie Pulse.

She next had performances in the films Wish Upon and in an episode of Wolf Creek. In 2019, she guest-starred in an episode of Into the Dark. She also gained recognition for starring as Tessa Young in the romantic drama film After. For her role here, she won the Choice Drama Movie Actress at the Teen Choice Awards. She reprised her role in the sequel After We Collided.
