Biography:

Kajol was born on August 5, 1974 in Mumbai, India. She is the daughter of actress Tanuja and film director Shomu Mukherjee. While still in school, she made her acting debut in the 1992 film Bekhudi.

She then quit from studying to pursue acting, and had her first commercial success in the thriller Baazigar in 1993. She has since appeared in such mainstream films as Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…

For her performance in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, she received her first Filmfare Award for Best Actress. She has since earned six Filmfare Awards from 11 nominations.
