English actress Kate Beckinsale had her career beginnings in the early 19990s. Her first movie role was in Much Ado About Nothing. She next appeared in the movies Cold Comfort Farm, Haunted, and The Last Days of Disco. Her career became more notable in the 2000s, starring in the films Pearl Harbor and Serendipity.
Her international breakthrough was as Selene in 2003’s Underworld. She has since reprised her role in the sequels Underworld: Evolution, Underworld: Awakening, and Underworld: Blood Wars. She also became known for playing Anna Valerious in Van Helsing and portraying Ava Gardner in The Aviator. Other movies in the 2000s were Vacancy, Click, and Winged Creatures. In the 2010s, she starred in the features Total Recall, Stonehearst Asylum, Love & Friendship, and more recently in The Only Living Boy in New York.
The Underworld star stays in shape by working out consistently. Her role in the Underworld films also pushed her to undergo intense training due to the nature of her character. She starts her workout in the morning, saying: “I basically wake up, eat breakfast, and then work out. I prefer to get it done in the morning. That said, I don’t naturally get up early. It would be much better for me if the entire world went to bed at 4 a.m. and woke up at noon. But it doesn’t, so I’m usually staggering around first thing.”
Talking about her workout routine, she said: “I work out hard with Gunnar five or six times a week,” Beckinsale revealed, adding, “I do circuit training interspersed with brutal cardio, such as crazy things on a nonmotorized treadmill. That part is torture. But the thing I like about circuit training is that you’re never doing one thing for very long. You get to the point where you almost can’t bear it, and it changes to something else.”
