Biography:

Katherine McNamara was born on November 22, 1995 in Kansas City, Missouri, United States. She was only 14 when she graduated in high school and went on to finish her college degree at age 17. Her acting career initially started in 2008 when as she was entering adolescence. On TV, she’s made one-episode roles in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Drop Dead Diva before appearing in the TV movie Girl vs. Monster in 2012.

She then played Claire in three episodes of the TV series Kickin’ It, followed by Jessie. In 2013, she has landed roles and acted in the movies Contest and Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn. Further recognition recently when she played Sonya in 2015’s Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials. She now stars as the lead character in the new TV series Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments, which received good reviews from critics and audiences alike.
