Kerry Washington was born on January 31, 1977 in The Bronx, New York. She performed with the TADA! Youth Theatre teen group. She also attended The George Washington University graduating with a double major in Anthropology and Sociology.

She made her screen debut in the telefilm Magical Make-Over. She went on to appear in several films, including Save the Last Dance and The Human Stain.

Since 2012, Washington has starred in the series Scandal. The show has been a commercial and critical success, and has been called the most talked about drama series on Twitter.
