Biography:

Kristen Schaal was born on January 24, 1978 in Longmont, Colorado, U.S. She studied and graduated from Northwestern University, then relocated to New York City to pursue a career in comedy.

In 2005, she had her big break when she was included in New York magazine’s article “The Ten Funniest New Yorkers You’ve Never Heard Of”.

The following year, she performed at the HBO US Comedy Arts Festival where she received the Best Alternative Comedian award. In 2007, she gained wider recognition after being cast as Mel in the television series Flight of the Conchords.
