Kumail Nanjiani is a Pakistani-American stand-up comedian and actor. He first appeared in an episode of Saturday Night Live back in 2008. His first notable role on television was in the short-lived comedy series Michael & Michael Have Issues. In 2010, he made his cinematic debut in the film Life as We Know It. He next had roles in several other films, including Bad Milo, Sex Tape, and Hot Tub Time Machine 2, among others.
He next had performances in the films Addicted to Fresno, Hello, My Name Is Doris, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, Flock of Dudes, and Late Bloomer. In 2017, he had his big break for starring and writing the film The Big Sick. Also in the 2010s, he became more prolific as a TV actor. He played Pindar Singh in Franklin & Bash, Amir Larussa in Newsreaders, and Zakir in Burning Love. As of 2014, he is best known for his role as Dinesh Chugtai in HBO’s Silicon Valley. He also co-hosted The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail from 2014 to 2016.
