Biography:
Lena Olin was born on 22 March 1955 in Stockholm, Sweden. She attended Sweden’s National Academy of Dramatic Art where she trained as an actress. Prior to acting, she was also a beauty pageant titleholder. She was crowned Miss Scandinavia 1974 at age 19. In 1976, she made her acting debut in the Swedish film Face to Face. She later appeared in the movie The Adventures of Picasso. In the 1980s, she had roles in some TV films.
She then became widely known for her role as Sabina in the 1988 film The Unbearable Lightness of Being. For this, she received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Her performance in 1989’s Enemies, A Love Story also earned her an Academy Award nomination. In the 2000s, she starred in the films Chocolat, Queen of the Damned, Casanova, and The Reader, among others. More recently, she starred as Irina Atman in the television series Riviera.
