Lily Rabe was born on June 29, 1982 in New York City, New York, U.S.. As she got interested in acting, she attended the Northwestern University. Subsequently, she began her performing career on stage in New York. Her portrayal of Portia in The Merchant of Venice earned her a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress.

She then moved on television, first playing recurring roles in Medium and The Good Wife. She then rose to fame for her multiple roles in American Horror Story. As of 2015, she plays the lead role Claire Bennigan on the television series The Whispers. Her most recent work on film was as Joan Fischer in 2014’s Pawn Sacrifice.
