Biography:
Maria Doyle Kennedy was born on 25 September 1964 in Clontarf, Dublin, Ireland. She performed with such bands as Hothouse Flowers and The Black Velvet Band before she pursued a solo musical career. Her debut solo album Charm came out in 2001. She has since released eight albums since then.
Doyle Kennedy has also ventured into acting, debuting in the 1991 film The Commitments. She next had roles in the films Moll Flanders, The Break, The MatchMaker, The General, Gregory’s Two Girls, and Miss Julie. On television, she’s best known for her role as Catherine of Aragon in The Tudors, Sonya in Dexter, and Siobhán Sadler in Orphan Black. As of 2018, she stars as Jocasta MacKenzie Cameron in Outlander.
