Biography:
María Valverde was born on March 24, 1987 in Madrid, Spain. She first gained recognition in her native country after starring as Maria in the 2003 Spanish film The Weakness of the Bolshevik, for which she won the Goya Award for Best New Actress. Her new-found fame led her to have starring roles in other European movies such as Melissa P. and The King of the Mountain.
Her first English-language film was in the 2009 independent feature Cracks. She then received worldwide recognition after being cast for the role of Zipporah in the 2014 movie Exodus: Gods and Kings starring Christian Bale. She has also recently starred in the 2015 American film Broken Horses.
