Marielle Heller is an American director. She’s also an actress who started her career in the early 2000s. She first debuted in an episode of Spin City. She next guest-starred in the television shows All-For-Nots and Single Dads. In 2010, she made her film debut in MacGruber. Later in 2015, she made her directorial debut with the movie The Diary of a Teenage Girl. She also directed select episodes of the TV shows Transparent and Casual. In 2018, she directed the film Can You Ever Forgive Me?. This was followed by the movie A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, released the following year. As of 2020, she stars as Alma Wheatley in the Netflix miniseries The Queen’s Gambit.
