Marisa Ramirez was born on September 15, 1977, in Los Angeles, California, USA. She first worked as a model during her teens. In 1998, she made her acting debut in an episode of the TV series USA High, followed by a one-time part on Roswell. Her first starring role on television came as Gia Campbell on the ABC soap opera Port Charles, which she played from 2000 to 2002.

She reprised her role as Gia Campbell on General Hospital. Following this, she starred as Evelyn Santos on the short-lived series Miracles. She then became further known for starring as Carmen Mesta / Ines Vargas on The Young and the Restless. In 2009, she starred as Dr. Chloe Artis on the TV show Mental.
