His first film role was in 1989’s Do the Right Thing. He gained recognition in the 1990s, starring in the films House Party, Talkin’ Dirty After Dark, and House Party 2. He came to wider prominence for his co-starring role as Det. Marcus Burnett in the action-comedy film Bad Boys. Also during this period, he starred as Martin Payne in the TV sitcom Martin. In the 2000s, he played Malcolm Turner/Big Momma in the comedy film Big Momma’s House. He recently reprised his role as Detective Marcus Burnett in 2020’s Bad Boys for Life.
