His first movie role was in 1993’s Gettysburg. Later in 1998, he starred as Captain Harrison Love in the film The Mask of Zorro. He also became known for starring as Rob Paley in the CBS sitcom Almost Perfect. In the 2000s, he portrayed Mike Love in the TV movie The Beach Boys: An American Family. He next portrayed Ted Kennedy in the miniseries Jackie, Ethel, Joan: The Women of Camelot. After this, he starred as Gavin Stone in the NBC sitcom Good Morning, Miami. He went on to star as Nathan Stone in the shortlived series Eli Stone. In the 2010s, he became known for his roles as Billy Chambers in Scandal, Tom Bradshaw in The Carrie Diaries, Eobard Thawne / Reverse-Flash in The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, and Jaime Kuykendall in Narcos: Mexico.
