Biography:

Maura Tierney was born on February 3, 1965 in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S. After high school, she enrolled at the New York University where she studied dance and drama. She began acting by performing on plays. She first got noticed for her role in the 1987 Disney TV movie Student Exchange. After a brief appearance in Primal Fear, she starred in the film Liar Liar.

On television, she became known for starring as Lisa Miller on the sitcom NewsRadio. She next starred as Dr. Abby Lockhart on ER, making her a television staple. In the 2010s, she had notable roles on Rescue Me, The Whole Truth, and The Good Wife. She currently stars as Helen Solloway on The Affair, for which she won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress.
