Mayim Bialik was born on December 12, 1975 in San Diego, California, U.S.. After high school, she was accepted at Harvard and Yale. Though she opted to study at UCLA. She completed a degree in neuroscience, with minors in Hebrew and Jewish studies. She even has a doctorate in neuroscience. Initially, she already was an actress as a child. She first had notable roles on Webster and MacGyver.

In 1990, she played her first lead as the titular character on the sitcom Blossom. After the show ended 1995, she mostly had guest and recurring roles. She also started voice acting. In 2010, she had a recurring role on The Secret Life of the American Teenager. It was also around the same time that she began playing Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler on The Big Bang Theory.
