Biography:

Meg Ryan was born on November 19, 1961 in Fairfield, Connecticut. She studied journalism at the University of Connecticut before transferring to NYU. While in college, she started acting in commercials to earn extra money. Only a semester away from her graduation, she dropped out so she could pursue acting. She then made her film debut in 1981’s Rich and Famous.

In the next few years, she had roles in the movies Amityville 3-D, Top Gun, Promised Land, and D.O.A.. Her breakthrough was in 1989’s When Harry Met Sally…, where she played the female lead Sally. She has since mainstream successes in other romantic comedies and dramas like Sleepless in Seattle, When a Man Loves a Woman, and You’ve Got Mail. In the 2000s, she starred in the features Proof of Life, Kate & Leopold, In the Cut, The Women, and Serious Moonlight.
