Mia Wasikowska was born on October 14, 1989 in Canberra, ACT, Australia. She first came to prominence as a result of her portrayal of Sophie in the HBO series In Treatment.

For her performance, she received a nomination for the Australian Film Institute International Award for Best Actress. In 2010, she gained international fame after being cast in as Alice in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland.

She later starred as Joni in The Kids Are Alright, for which she earned the Hollywood Awards’ Breakthrough Actress Award. In 2011, she portrayed the title role in the film Jane Eyre.
