Michelle Forbes was born on January 8, 1965 in Austin, Texas. She began her acting career in her late teens after being signed with a talent agency. In 1987, she made her television debut in the soap Guiding Light. For her performance, she received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

In the early 1990s, she became known for her role as Ro Laren in Star Trek: The Next Generation. In 1993, she made her big screen debut in the movie Love Bites. She continued her prolific career on TV, playing Dr. Julianna Cox in Homicide: Life on the Street. In the early 2000s, she achieved further prominence for her portrayal of Lynne Kresge in 24. She next played Samantha Brinker in Prison Break. In the late 2000s, she’s had notable roles in HBO’s In Treatment and True Blood. She went on to gain critical praise for her performance in The Killing.
