Hollywood actor Mike Vogel had his career beginnings in the early 2000s. He landed his debut with a starring role on the television series Grounded for Life. During this period, he also started his film career. He had roles in the films Grind, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Havoc, Rumor Has It…, and Poseidon.
He later became further known for starring in the films Cloverfield and Blue Valentine. In the 2010s, he starred in the short-lived shows Miami Medical and Pan Am. He then played Deputy Zack Shelby in Bates Motel. He later achieved further success for starring in the series Under the Dome. Also in the 2010s, he had roles in the films The Help, What’s Your Number?, The Boy, and The Case for Christ. Since last year, he plays Capt. Adam Dalton in the new series The Brave.
The 38-year-old actor takes his role in the new show The Brave seriously. A part of his training was carrying an “All-purpose Lightweight Individual Carrying Equipment” filled with 45 pounds on his back with a rifle in his hands while marching across his ranch for 45 minutes. Talking about it, he said in an interview: “When you’re carrying something in front of you, even if it’s just 8lbs, it engages your whole core. Your traps are burning.”
He also did a lot of weightlifting in his basement, saying: “I’ve got this whole setup—power rack, cables, benches, dumbbells, heavy bag.” He also trained by attending a boot camp with his castmates. He talked about the experience, revealing: “Mikal just beat us up with these circuit routines using TRX straps, bands, and bodyweight stuff. For years I was really big on Jim Wendler’s 5/3/1 powerlifting workout, which is great for getting meaty. But Mikal’s workouts strengthened my core and also cleared up my back issues. So he changed my thinking on the whole thing.”
