The Israeli-born American actress Natalie Portman is one of the most popular Hollywood celebrities in the world. With a career spanning of 21 years since her debut in Léon the Professional (1994), Natalie has earned ultimate success not only in acting, but also academically when she finished her psychology degree from Harvard.
Just like other A-list actors, she’s not new to taking great lengths to manipulating how her body should appear whenever a film role calls for it. For instance, she lost 20 pounds to play ballerina Nina Sayers in Black Swan, a role that even won her an Academy Award for Best Actress. Basically, most people know that Natalie has been a vegetarian since she entered her teenage years. Given this, the Thor actress strictly follows a fresh plant-based diet.
She even went ahead in 2009 when she announced that she had decided to become a vegan. She admitted that her decision was influenced after reading Jonathan Safran Foer’s book Eating Animals. This didn’t last long as she became pregnant in 2010 and found her body craving for eggs and dairy products. Reportedly, she consumed 1,200 calories to prepare for her role in Black Swan. Others said she even used the starvation diet to lose that much weight.
As for her normal diet, it’s not known what the actress intakes daily though she is very cautious when it comes to knowing what’s in her food wherever she goes. There were, however, rumors that she lashed at someone on the set of Black Swan saying she couldn’t bear eating carrots and almonds any longer. Phew, that must have been a torture if this was true. In addition, just like most health conscious, Natalie avoids food with much salt, fat, and calorie. She also recognizes the fact that eating the healthy way always begins at home, saying she cooks a lot and still does vegan baking.
