Biography:

Nicola Coughlan was born on 9 January 1987 in Galway, Ireland. She had her acting training from the Oxford School of Drama and Birmingham School of Acting. Initially, she had her first acting role at the age of 10, appearing as an extra in the 1997 film My Brother’s War. Later in 2004, she appeared in the short film The Phantom Cnut.

Coughlan pursued acting full-time in the 2010s, starting with a guest role in Doctors. After starring as Hannah Dalton in the TV series Harlots, she gained mainstream recognition for her role as Clare Devlin in the sitcom Derry Girls. Recently, she became further known for her character as Penelope Featherington in Bridgerton.
