Niki Taylor was born on October 20, 1986 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, United States. She began her career at the age of 13 when she signed with Irene Marie Models in South Florida.

She then won a Fresh Faces contest in New York where she received a $500,000 modeling contract. In 1989, she appeared on the cover of Seventeen at age 14. The following year at just 15, she graced the cover of Vogue.

In 1991, People magazine named her one of the 50 Most Beautiful People. Her success continued the following year when she became the first spokesmodel below 18 to sign a major contract with CoverGirl.
