Biography:
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau was born on July 27, 1970 in Rudkøbing, Denmark. He received his education from National Theater School in Denmark beginning in 1989 to 1993. He later attended Statens Teaterskole in Copenhagen.
He then made his stage debut as Laertes in Hamlet at the Betty Nansen Theater. In 1994, he gained fame in his native country with his role in the film Nightwatch. In 2001, he began his career in Hollywood with Ridley Scott’s Black Hawk Down.
He has since starred in other well known films such as Wimbledon, Kingdom of Heaven, Firewall and many others. In 2011, he received further fame after being cast as Jaime Lannister in HBO’s Game of Thrones.
