Biography:

Padmapriya Janakiraman was born on February 28, 1980 in Delhi, India. She attended Loyola Academy in Alwal where she graduated with a B. Com degree. She later pursued an MBA degree in Finance at Kirloskar Institute of Advanced Management Studies in Harihar.

In 2003, she made her acting debut with the Telugu film Seenu Vasanthi Lakshmi. This led her to land the role of Lakshmi Madhavan in the Malayalam movie Kaazhcha, for which she gained further exposure.

She gained wider fame after starring in the Tamil film Thavamai Thavamirundhu, for which she won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut – South. In 2006, she received the Filmfare Best Actress Award for her role in the Malayalam movie Karutha Pakshikal.
