Parker Posey was born on November 8, 1968 in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. She attended the State University of New York where she studied drama.

She first got her break in television when she was cast as Tess Shelby in the soap opera As the World Turns. She then got her major role in a feature film in Dazed and Confused.

She was nicknamed “Queen of the Indies” because she starred in 32 independent films throughout the late 1990s.

She went on to have supporting roles in mainstream films, including You’ve Got Mail, Scream 3, Laws of Attraction and Superman Returns.
