Parminder Nagra was born on October 5, 1975 in Leicester, Leicestershire, England, UK. Her television career began in 1996 with her debut in the series Casualty.

She has since appeared in other shows like Goodness Gracious Me, Holby City, Judge John Deed, Always and Everyone, Alcatraz and Psych. She then became known as Dr. Neela Rasgotra in ER and presently stars as Meera Malik in The Blacklist.

On film, she made her breakthrough with the 2002 feature Bend It Like Beckham, where she played the role of Jesminder ‘Jess’ Bhamra. Other movies include Ella Enchanted, Horrid Henry: The Movie and Twenty8k.
