Philip Casnoff is an American actor. He had his career beginnings in the 1970s, debuting in the film Message from Space. In the ’80s, he had roles in the films Gorp and Christmas Evil. On television, he first appeared in The Edge of Night. He also starred in the TV movie The Renegades, as well as in the miniseries George Washington. Casnoff then starred as Major Elkanah Bent in the miniseries North and South: Book I and its sequel. In the ’90s, he portrayed Frank Sinatra in the miniseries, Sinatra. He next starred as Detective James Vitelli in the TV series Under Suspicion. He became further known for playing Nikolai Stanislofsky in Oz. He also starred as Dr. Robert Jackson in the medical drama Strong Medicine. In 2017, he had a role in the film The Post.
