Phylicia Rashad is an American actress. She came to prominence during the 1980s and 1990s for her role as Clair Huxtable on the NBC sitcom The Cosby Show. For her performance, she gained two Primetime Emmy nominations. She reprised her role as Clair in the spin-off A Different World. She also starred as Courtney Wright in the soap opera One Life to Live. Later in 1995, she made her cinematic debut in the film Once Upon a Time…When We Were Colored. Her next film was in 1999’s Loving Jezebel. From 1996 to 2000, she starred as Ruth Lucas in the sitcom Cosby. In the 2010s, she starred in the TV movie Steel Magnolias, as well as played Dr. Vanessa Young in Do No Harm and Diana DuBois in Empire. She recently starred in the 2020 film A Fall from Grace.
