R. Madhavan is an Indian actor. He’s also a writer and producer. He started his career in 1996, debuting as an extra in the Hindi film Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin. The following year, he appeared in the English-language film Inferno. His breakthrough came in 2000, starring in the Tamil film Alaipayuthey. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut – South for his work in the movie. He has since starred in the Tamil films Kannathil Muthamittal, Run, and Anbe Sivam, among others. In 2009, he starred as Farhan Qureshi in the box-office hit 3 Idiots. For this, he got a Filmfare nomination for Best Supporting Actor. After starring in the Tamil film Manmadan Ambu, Madhavan co-starred in the film Tanu Weds Manu opposite Kangana Ranaut. He reprised his role in the sequel Tanu Weds Manu: Returns. In 2017, he starred in Vikram Vedha, winning the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor – South.
