Rebecca Ferguson was born on October 19, 1983 in Stockholm, Sweden. She was raised speaking Swedish and English. She began her career in the entertainment industry at age 13 by working as a model. During this time, she appeared in magazines and TV commercials. She attended Stockholm’s Adolf Fredrik’s Music School and graduated in 1999.

She got her screen beginnings on Swedish television, starring on the soap opera Nya tider. In the late 2000s, she began her career on UK television, starting with an episode of Wallander. She gained mainstream recognition in the UK courtesy of her starring role on The White Queen. This led her to land roles in Hollywood, most notably in the film Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation where she played the female lead.
