Biography:
Richard Armitage was born on August 22, 1971 in Huncote, Leicester, Leicestershire, England. He attended Pattison College in Coventry where he studied music, dancing and acting.
After joining a circus in Budapest for six weeks, he returned to England where he performed in multiple productions. He then enrolled at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art to further study acting.
In 2002, he appeared in his first major television role in Sparkhouse. He then gained further attention for his role in Captain America: The First Avenger. In 2012, he played Thorin Oakenshield in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
