Biography:
Richard Rankin was born on 4 January 1983 in Glasgow, Scotland. In his later life, he enrolled at the Glasgow Caledonian University intending to study IT. He changed his mind after visiting Los Angeles where a film producer had told him he had the “look of an actor”. He then attended Langside College upon returning to Scotland to study acting. In 2007, he made his acting debut in an episode of the Scottish sitcom Legit.
His first regular work was on the Scottish sketch comedy show Burnistoun from 2009-2012. Afterward, he played Captain Thomas Gillan in the British series The Crimson Field. He also made his Hollywood debut in an episode of American Odyssey. Recently, he gained wider recognition for his role as Roger Wakefield in the Starz series Outlander. At the same time, he starred in the miniseries The Replacement and in the film Burnt.
