Biography:

Romola Garai was born on 6 August 1982 in Hong Kong. She was born to British parents. She lived in Singapore at age 5 and returned to England when she was 8. During her teens, she joined the National Youth Theatre until she was 18. In 2000, she made her debut on the TV movie The Last of the Blonde Bombshells. She made her cinematic debut as Kate Nickleby in Nicholas Nickleby.

She next starred in the film I Capture the Castle. She made her Hollywood debut as the female lead in the Dirty Dancing remake Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights. Subsequently, she starred in the films Vanity Fair, Scoop, Amazing Grace, and Atonement. Her lead performance on the miniseries Emma earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress. She was next acclaimed for her performance on the TV series The Hour. Her recent role was on the TV movie Churchill’s Secret.
