Biography:

Rooney Mara was born in Bedford, New York on April 17, 1985. She studied international social policy and psychology in New York University.

She began focusing on acting when she appeared in student films in NYU. Inspired by her older sister, actress Kate Mara, she started to pursue the craft.

In 2010, she got her first lead role in a major feature in the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street. She was then noticed for her small but pivotal role in Social Network. She was subsequently cast as the lead in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
