Biography:
Russell Tovey was born on 14 November 1981 in Billericay, Essex, England. He originally wanted to become a history teacher. But after seeing movies like Dead Poets Society and The Goonies, he decided he wanted to pursue acting. So, he started his career young, first joining a drama club where he was discovered by an agent. When he was 11, he started appearing in television commercials. In 1996, he made his TV debut on the BBC series Spywatch. Meanwhile, his first movie role was in 2001’s The Emperor’s New Clothes.
He later had a 3-episode role on the show Messiah IV: The Harrowing. In 2006, he appeared as Peter Rudge in the film The History Boys. Following this, he had notable roles on such shows as Gavin & Stacey and Rob Brydon’s Annually Retentive. He then gained wider recognition for starring as George Sands on Being Human, which he played from 2008-2012. Also, he played John Chivery in the miniseries Little Dorrit. In the 2010s, he starred as Steve Marshall on the sitcom Him & Her. More recently, he starred as Harry Doyle on the American series Quantico.
