Biography:
Sam Heughan was born on 30 April 1980 in Balmaclellan, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. In his later life, he attended Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. It was there that he received his acting training. In 2004, he made his television debut on the miniseries Island at War. He next appeared on the show River City. In 2009, he had his first notable role as Scott Nielson on the British show Doctors.
The following year, he played the title role in the film Young Alexander the Great. That same time, he portrayed Geoffrey ‘Boy’ Wellum on the made-for-television film First Light. He also starred on another TV movie A Princess for Christmas. He successfully auditioned for the male lead, Jamie Fraser, on the Starz television series Outlander. His work on the show has since earned him mainstream fame.
