Biography:

Samuel Barnett was born on 25 April 1980 in Whitby, North Yorkshire, England. He began acting at an early age. In his later life, he moved to London where he attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. In 2001, he debuted on television with a small role in Coupling. He next had appearances on the TV shows The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, Doctors, Strange, and The Royal.

In 2005, he made his big screen debut in the film Mrs Henderson Presents. He next played the role of Posner in the movie The History Boys, as well as played Joseph Severn in Bright Star. He also portrayed the titular role on the BBC documentary Wilfred Owen: A Remembrance Tale, after which he played John Millais in the six-part serial Desperate Romantics. More recently, he played Dirk Gently in the show Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency.
