Sara Jean Underwood was born on March 26, 1984 in Portland, Oregon, US. She had attended Oregon State University and Portland State University.

She first appeared in Playboy as one of its Girls of the Pac-10 pictorial in the October 2005 issue. The following year, she became Playmate of the Month for July 2006. She went on to gain wider recognition when she became the Playmate of the Year in June 2007.

As an actress, she has appeared in various films, including Epic Movie, House Bunny, Two Million Stupid Women, The Telling and Zellwood/Deadliest Weekend.
