Sarah Michelle Gellar was born on April 14, 1977 in New York City, USA. She was discovered by an agent when she was four years old. She had her film debut in the television film An Invasion of Privacy.

Her breakthrough came with the television series Swans Crossing. In 1997, she became well-known after appearing in films, I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream 2.

Also in 1997, she landed the lead in the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the title role she is most commonly known, for which she won six Teen Choice Awards.
