Biography:
Scoot McNairy was born on November 11, 1977 in Dallas, Texas. During his younger years, he performed in theater in after-school programs, developing his passion for acting. Considering himself as a visual learner, cinema became huge interest for him, leading him to pursue an acting career. During college, he attended the University of Texas, but he eventually decided to go to Los Angeles to attend film school.
He attended for a year before dropping out, leading him to work behind the scenes of some film productions. This then led to getting gigs as an extra until he started getting more stable jobs appearing in television commercials and soon in movies. His first role in a major film was in 2003’s Wonderland starring Val Kilmer. He next had appearances in such films as D.E.B.S., Herbie: Fully Loaded, and Art School Confidential.
During this period, he also had some one-time appearances on television, such as in Six Feet Under, Close to Home, and Good Girls Don’t… He had a recurring role as Noel Liftin in Bones. After more minor to supporting roles in movies and TV, Scoot McNairy’s acting career started looking up in the 2010s. In 2012, he had a supporting role in the movie Killing Them Softly opposite Brad Pitt. It was also that year when he played Joe Stafford in the Best Picture-winning film Argo. He has since starred in the movies 12 Years A Slave, Non-Stop, Gone Girl, and Our Brand is Crisis.
In 2016, McNairy portrayed the part of Wallace Keefe in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. he went on to work with Quentin Tarantino, starring as Bruce Dern in 2019’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. More recently, he appeared in the films A Quiet Place Part II and C’mon C’mon. Back on TV, he is also best known for starring as Gordon Clark in the AMC series Halt and Catch Fire, which he starred in between 2014 and 2017. After this, he played Maurice LeFay in Fargo, starred as Bill McNue in Godless, and starred as Tom Purcell in True Detective Season 3. In 2020, he portrayed Rod Rosenstein in the miniseries The Comey Rule. The actor is also set to star in the upcoming films Blonde and Luckiest Girl Alive.
