Sheila McCarthy is a Canadian actress. Her acting career begana in the 1980s. Her performance in the 1987 film I’ve Heard the Mermaids Singing won her the Genie Award for Best Actress. In the 1990s, she starred in the films Die Hard 2, Pacific Heights, White Room, Paradise, and The Lotus Eaters. She later played Sue Walsh in some episodes of the TV series Picket Fences. From 1998 to 2000, she starred as Laura Murray in the TV drama Emily of New Moon. The following decade, the actress had supporting roles in some films, including Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen and Being Julia.
